Tobias Adolphsen is 21 years old and a trainee. He grew up in Farum and now lives in Dyssegård with his girlfriend. Tobias has had two sabbaticals as an employee at FC Nordsjælland, and has known what direction he wanted to go in since primary school. Tobias wants to go all the way and become a state-authorized public accountant.
" We're just thrown into it - with a lot of support, of course - but that's what makes the trainee path so good: that the practical stuff happens in direct combination with the academic stuff," says Tobias. He is a trainee at inforevision and enjoys being back on track after two educational sabbaticals. He wants to go all the way and become a state-authorized public accountant. Here, Tobias talks about his path into the accountancy program.
"I already knew in primary school that I wanted a business-oriented education, and at HHX I gained a broader understanding of my options. Among other things, I attended introductory days at various accounting firms, which confirmed that I wanted to go that way."
"After high school, I had two gap years with full-time work and employee responsibilities. I learned a lot and it made the leap to trainee shorter. Now I'm ready to set goals and direction for my education, and it's really nice to get 'back on track' and back to school to learn some theory that can be directly applied at work."
"From the outside, it can be difficult to see what you actually do as an accountant. That's why it's a good idea to go on introductory courses and company visits while you're in high school, but you only really understand it when you're here. It's been exciting to experience. You're not just working with accounts, you also have to advise and help customers on many other fronts."
"Many people think that accountancy is just about dry numbers, but that's often because they don't know much about it. If you don't like big excel sheets or don't like sitting at a computer, it can be difficult, but it's an education with lots of opportunities both personally and professionally. You get customers that you build relationships with and become a close advisor to, and the opportunities to develop and specialize are almost endless."
"In the beginning, we trainees received a lot of internal training. This provides a good foundation for actually being able to solve tasks, which is why we quickly got started with the actual work. For example, we've talked to banks and prepared accounts, and we've started doing audits. We're just thrown into it - with a lot of support, of course - but that's what makes the trainee path so good: that the practical is directly combined with the academic."
"Inforevision has a value called "Helpfulness" and they mean that literally. People are really helpful and that's a huge plus. The structure is also very flat. In many companies, a trainee rarely has much to do with the partners and they might not even be on the same floor, but here I don't experience that distance at all. It's really cool."
"For me, it's important to have a goal to aim for, and my long-term goal is to go all the way and become a chartered accountant and also a partner in an accounting firm."
"It may sound crazy when I've only just started as a trainee, but the advantage is that I can work towards the goal step-by-step. After four years of HD, I can choose to take a break from my studies and concentrate on working and getting practical experience with what I've learned. Later, I can take a Master of Business Administration. It takes three years and when I'm ready, I can enroll in the state authorized public accountant program. And I'm sure inforevision will be behind me all the way - personally, professionally and financially - if I'm committed and show that I want to. That means a lot."
